Using the app

The app looks and works the same on web, macOS, Windows, and Android (on iPhone and iPad, use the web app — a native iOS app is Coming soon). Everything is organized around one idea: you pick a vehicle, and the app shows you that vehicle’s world.

The global bar

Two controls sit at the top of the app, available everywhere:

• Vehicle switcher — shows which boat or RV you’re looking at and switches between them. Everything below it — status, devices, alerts, settings — is scoped to the selected vehicle.
• Account button — opens the Account view: your sign-in, plan, and account-level options (details below).

The four destinations

Overview

The landing view. It answers the only question that matters when you open the app from the couch or the airport: is the rig okay? Each monitored system reports its state at a glance, so green means move on with your day and anything else tells you where to look. How fresh that picture is when you’re away from the rig depends on the vehicle’s plan — see Pricing.

Systems

The working view, split into three sections:

• Water — the LinkTap valve lives here as a peer device alongside the rest of the water system: open/close control, the volume/duration limit on every open, and flow/usage data from the valve’s meter.
• Power — battery voltage from the Shelly Plus Uni (with your chemistry preset applied) and shore-power status and consumption from the PM Mini.
• Flood — each flood sensor’s state. Battery-powered sensors deep-sleep between events, so a quiet “last seen” here is normal — see the flood sensor guide.

Alerts

Two layers: a current issues banner that surfaces anything wrong right now, and a per-device event timeline underneath — every alarm, valve action, and threshold crossing, per device, in order. When something woke you up at 2 a.m., this is where you reconstruct what happened. Delivery of alerts (in-app, push, SMS) is covered in Alerts & notifications.

Settings

Everything configurable lives here:

• Devices — add, configure, and remove hardware; enable the Uni’s voltmeter, set calibration offsets, pick battery chemistry presets.
• Vehicles — manage this vehicle and add new ones.
• Notifications — what you get alerted about and how.
• Account — see Cloud & local.

Display preferences like units and timezone are per-device — they follow the phone or laptop you set them on, not the vehicle. Handy when one owner thinks in gallons and another in liters.

Adding more vehicles

Guardian is multi-vehicle from the ground up. Add a second vehicle from Settings — a boat and an RV, or a whole small fleet — and flip between them with the vehicle switcher. Each vehicle keeps its own devices, alert configuration, sharing list, and plan. Plans attach to the vehicle, not to you: the boat can be on Premium while the RV stays on Free, and anyone the boat is shared with inherits its Premium features.

The Account view

Opened from the account button in the global bar. This is where you’ll find:

• Plan management — your current plan badge per vehicle, and where upgrades start. Billing itself is handled in the web account portal at account.boatrvguardian.com; the native apps open it in your system browser.
• Trial opt-in — every vehicle can start one free month of Basic from here. One trial per vehicle; when it ends, the vehicle drops back to Free automatically. No surprise charges.
• Display name — the name other people see on vehicles you share.
• Data export — on Premium, export your hosted history as CSV.
• Account deletion — full deletion of your account and its cloud data, from inside the app.
