Sharing & roles
Give family, partners, or crew access to a vehicle — with exactly as much control as you want them to have.
Boats and RVs are rarely one-person affairs. A spouse who wants to check the bilge, a partner in a shared boat, a marina neighbor keeping an eye on things, renters on a charter — Guardian handles all of them with per-vehicle sharing and three simple roles.
How sharing works
Sharing is per vehicle, not per account. You choose which of your vehicles each person can see and what role they get on it. Someone can be a Full Admin on the family RV and have no access at all to your boat. Inviting people needs a paid plan on that vehicle — Basic shares with up to 3 people, Premium up to 10. Being invited is always free: a free account can still be a member of someone else’s vehicle. Either way it needs a hosted cloud account, since that’s what connects the two apps.

- Monitor — view-only. Ideal for renters, a worried relative, or anyone who should see but never touch.
- Monitor & Control — can view everything and operate the equipment, but can’t reconfigure the vehicle. A good fit for co-owners and trusted crew.
- Full Admin — everything short of ownership itself.
Inviting someone
Invites are tied to an email address:
- From the vehicle’s sharing settings, create an invite for the person’s email address and pick their role.
- Guardian emails them the invitation, with a link to the account portal. Invitations expire after 30 days — you can resend one that has lapsed.
- The invitee signs in with that email address and accepts (or declines) in the account portal, or in their app’s Friends area. The vehicle appears in their app with the role you chose.
Ownership
Every vehicle has exactly one owner — the account that created it (or last received it). The owner manages the vehicle’s plan and its sharing list. If you sell the boat or hand the rig to a family member, you don’t start over: ownership transfer is built in, moving the vehicle to another account intact.
Shared users inherit the vehicle’s plan
Plans attach to the vehicle, not the person — a bit like Plex. When the owner subscribes a vehicle to Basic or Premium, everyone it’s shared with gets that tier’s features while viewing it: automatic remote telemetry, hosted history, extra alert destinations, and so on, at no extra cost per person.
